Amelia Lifelong Learning became an independent organization in 2016.  The original organization was established in 1998 as the Nassau Institute for Continuing Education (NICE).  It was dedicated to providing educational opportunities for adult learners.

In 2006, NICE affiliated with the Florida State College at Jacksonville and the name was changed to The Center for Lifelong Learning.  Since its inception, the organization has provided educational opportunities to over 1800 students.
