What is their purpose?  How do they work?  What is it like to critique and be critiqued?  This is a six-week course with a maximum enrollment of 10.  Everyone will bring 11 copies of 10 pages of double-spaced fiction work to distribute to the class.  The first class will be a lecture on the how and why of workshops and how to critique others’ writing.  In each of the remaining five classes, we will provide two participants with feedback on their work.  Although this is not a basic writing class, as needed during the critique sessions the instructor will provide brief periods of writing instruction to help the class move forward.  Class enrollment is limited to 10.
