Course Description: This 5-session comprehensive course is designed to equip participants with essential tools, knowledge, and strategies to navigate the complexities of financial planning, taxes, Social Security, Medicare, and long-term care during their retirement years. Course topics are: financial planning (what it is and what it is not); taxes in retirement (types of taxes faced by retirees and how tax planning can help save money); Social Security (how SS is calculated and different claiming strategies); Medicare 101 (basics of Medicare; different parts of Medicare, Medicare myths); and planning for long-term care (levels of care, costs of care, and ideas of how to fund it in retirement).
Instructor: Jared Cales was born and raised in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Beginning in 2015, he gained experience in personal finance working for a local firm. He has taught courses on personal finance at the University of North Florida for a number of years. In 2021, he started his own independent financial planning practice that focuses on service and not sales. Today, he provides holistic investment and financial planning advice in a fiduciary capacity to individuals and families over the age of 50. These services include investments, taxes, estate planning, long-term care, healthcare funding, and more.
