Course Description: This past year my husband and I were fortunate to not only be in Sicily but to take a cooking class. It was great fun, wildly popular, and a wonderful learning experience. Now I would like to share the recipes we learned in a communal cooking environment. We will prepare lunch, working together, using these recipes which include making a formed pasta, bread, main course, and a light dessert.
Instructor: Marge Powell has been an herbalist for over 40 years and an avid plant person her entire life. Her herbal interests span both the culinary, the medicinal and body care as well as growing herbs. Marge is a passionate cook and most of her cooking is herb enhanced. She teaches classes in cooking with herbs, making your own medicines, creating lotions and ointments, making soap, and blending scents. She has conducted hands-on workshops on these and a variety of other herbal topics across the United States. In 2011 she created Magnolia Hill Nursery which wholesales organic herbs and heirloom vegetables to local garden centers.
From 2000-2022 she owned and operated Magnolia Hill Soap Company which manufactured natural and organic body care products. In 2015 she participated in a perfumery class in Grasse, Grance, with Gallimard perfumers where she expanded her scent blending techniques. She is currently a board member of the International Herb Association (IHA) and the International Herb Association and is past president of IHA for Southeastern Region. She has authored numerous herbal articles published in IHA’s annual Herb of the Year publications. Recently she has begun collecting date on the history of folk medicine in NE Florida and SE Georgia hoping to shed some light on this often ignored and unstudied aspect of herbal lore.
