The History of Perfume 

The class will discuss the timeline of how various cultures have used scents throughout history as well as how scents have evolved from the plant to the synthetic and recently returned to the natural world.  The last class will be hands-on as participants learn the basics of scent blending and create their own scent (perfume).

Instructor:  Marge Powell has been an herbalist for over 30 years.  She teaches classes in cooking with herbs, creating lotions and ointments, making soap, blending scents, and natural perfumery.  She has a certificate in perfumery from Le Studio des Fragrances of Galimard Perfumery in Grasse, France.

Location:  St. Peter’s Church, Room 201

Day and Time:  Mondays, October 21 – November 4, 1:00-3:00 pm

Fee:  $40

Materials to be Purchased:  None.  Essential oils for creating personal perfume scents and handouts will be provided by the instructor.
